Look, I stepped outside my crib today and took time from my babies\nTo reflect and have an introspective moment about my lady\nLast month we made it four years in the blessing of matrimony\nBut know some folk who yolk done broke, now both need alimony\nRatchet homies though they blast it for me and clap at phonies\nStill detached from knowing how being vulnerable truly feels\nAnd though I’ve had some classless moments my past unfolded hood rats and\nrodents\nDown my path to Damascus that truly healed\nEvery ailment before the mailman delivered agape\nIn the form of fat who at first contact was a frivolous entrée\nWe had dissonance but her diligence and commitment when\nI was indifferent, was equivalent to someone hit with\nThe spirit and forced to lay prostrate\nOverwhelming potent and pure but undeniable\nShe was my friend when I ain’t have no ends\nThat made us somewhat sizeable\nDifference in how I would listen when she would\nExpress the intrinsic gems\nShe saw within me that made me desirable\nTo her but I was sure it wasn’t mutual\nAnd round that time wasn’t always kind but I’s always truthful\nI’d rather lose you than use you, confuse you\nSeduce you, abuse you or run through you like most dudes do\nI told her clear as day, I don’t want you\nShe looked at me and said cool\nSome people hear that and say, «Girl, what’s wrong with you?»\nAnd to that I say, «Hell, baby, what’s wrong with you?»\nShe knew what she wanted but knew I wasn’t there yet\nSo rather than run around the field, she made a fair catch\nTook what was given that never altered her vision\nIn fact she moved with precision towards being friends with no strings attached\nWhile most people drown waiting, her love and her sound making\nDecisions built around shaking foundation\nSo when I had my peace I could place my feet\nOn something concrete, the cost above ain’t cheap, it’s steep\nUnless you want something for the streets\nWell, hell, then I concede\nAnd easily can see why I see these tweets\nThat reek of those that struggle with rejection though\nThey mask it by projecting false realities that they deem true\nThat’s why I’m weary when I speak to folk who stressing\nOr victims of mass deception 'cause I’m knowing they ain’t got a clue\nHow the hell is one offended when presented someone’s genuine experience\nThat don’t make or break you doing you?\nIt’s hard to comprehend that some condemn the road in which you travel\nLike the gravel beneath your feet gon' alter they shoes\nOr positioning, my non-fiction ain’t here to contend with your non-fiction\nAnd you free to do whatever you choose\nBut hell, that’s the world we live in\nWhen your chips is high, be weary of the ones who chip in\nShaitan gon' always try to tempt you\nKnow that it is written but who am I? I said a lot, but I might be tripping, ooh\nNah, you not tripping, and\nI wanna just address the people that were hurt or triggered by our, our story\nOf how we got, ya know, married\nAnd to those people that had that limited understanding\nOf what our story was and felt some type of way, you know\nIt’s okay, it’s okay and here’s why it’s okay\nBecause life is hard, life is hard, and it’s even harder when you involve\nrelationships\n'Cause you can get hurt, you can get scarred, you can get bruised\nAnd it’s so easy to take all of those things with us on a day to day\nAnd hold onto 'em tight\nAnd so when you encounter something that tries to deal with it\nIt hurts, it hurts and you’re forced to either deal with that hurt\nOr you, you create an alternate reality\nAnd I think a lot of people that were looking at\nOur story, they were creating that alternative reality through their filter of\nHurt or rejection, and you know, it’s okay because you can get help\nAnd you can sit down with somebody and you can talk to 'em\nAnd you can process what happened to you\nSo that when you hear, you know, someone’s origin story, you don’t have that\nsame response\nYou don’t have to hear it and get angry and get mad or be triggered by it\nBecause you can heal, you can heal from that hurt\nAnd you can heal from that pain and that rejection\nYou deserve to heal
