See I’m almost at that point and that’s the point of my dissertation
The motivation of my speech
Is to get you to that highest point
In your life that you couldn’t reach
Throw your shyness out the window, where the wind blow
Make some money, stash it when on stage, spit with a passion
Be social, respect all aspects of the culture
With the graffin', scratching, all b-boy doing a backspin
Stop ice grilling, harassing grabbing womens' asses
Press on play like a production for TurboGrafx
You need advice?
(I got it!) pay close attention
These are some of the tools and use them with wise discretion
I send them off with the youth that love hip-hop
A lesson—a light to follow and avoid road blocks
Hit up open mics, even poetry shows
And perform regardless, even if nobody shows
That’s called practice, mostly done by some of the pros
And Bill’s presence, organization of breath control (peepin')
Don’t get a manager like everybody else
Until you get a major deal, do everything yourself
Get something like ten songs together, listen to them on replay
Pick the three best, and hand them out to college DJs (why?)
They love exclusives, get your name out
And if somebody think they hotter than you, put they flame out
See battles is important, for confidence reasons (uh-huh)
You lose some you win some
But make sure the prize money’s decent (okay)
‘Cause your money don’t happen till late in the career
Free shows pay dues, spread love not fear
A&R is trying to gas you, like super unleaded (true)
Give gifts instead of cash, a year later you’ll regret it
This is a foolproof system, to get your MC on
